We take pleasure in inviting you to "Salt of the Earth"
an exhibition of paintings by Rudi D'Silva
on 31st August 2019 at 7 pm
The exhibition will be on display until 12th September between 10 am - 7 pm (Mondays closed)
Rudi D'Silva is a treasured artist in the South Goan art circle. He has travelled across Europe and Asia for almost a decade painting with local artists and participating in international watercolour festivals. His love for the medium prompted him to leave the ad world and focus on his two areas of passion - capturing the essence of traditional Goa on paper; and -teaching art to young and old alike.
Rudi's imagery stems from his admiration towards the local people and their traditional occupations. "Their hand gestures, the various clothes they wear, collectively make a great portrait. These individuals are hardworking and show dignity, self respect and strength in what they do irrespective of their age or sex."
The title 'Salt Of The Earth' aptly summarises the main theme of Rudi's artwork. His portraits of the Goan men and women capture their unique character - one that is memorable, colourful and beautiful to see in their simple mundane surroundings. The theme 'Salt Of The Earth', taken in a broader context, can also be seen in his other artworks wherein other influencers in his art such as Christian art come to life.
"Salt Of The Earth" will be on display at Carpe Diem Art Gallery - Majorda from the 31st of August to 12th September from 10 am - 7 pm (Mondays closed)
