Rajesh Salgaonkar (born 1973) graduated from the Goa College of Art, Altinho, Panaji, and has carved a very special niche for himself in the Goan contemporary art scene over the last few years through his various solo and group exhibitions. His work reveals his fantasies, which are deeply tied to his own roots - the Sea. Rajesh continues to connect with his family’s fishing tradition through his depictions of the underwater world fused with images of human beauty, thus creating a surreal experience for his viewers. His paintings have been described as metaphors for the mundane, as playful representations of ornamental sea creatures, adorning and evoking feminine innocence & beauty!
What has caught the eyes of art connoisseurs is his command over his shapes and forms and his ability to create a vivid composition, portraying our innate and yet beautiful connection to the animal world. This solo exhibition at Carpe Diem has hence been titled “Entwined Beauty”.
