Budding artist Mohit Naik’s first exhibition, ‘Ghodkem: My journey begins here’ is opening on march 12 at 7 pm at carpe Diem in Majorda. Born in an isolated village, Ghodkem, Mohan was inspired by his artist father’s paintings and the village where they lived. Mohan painted his first canvas when he was in class 5 and continued painting on papers, with different mediums especially with soft pastels, and winning prizes. The surrounding mountains inspired the father-son duo to embrace the art of painting. It was six months later after completing MBA and taking up a job that he realised that this was not what he wanted to do in life, so he quit the job and turned to painting. It was after a gap, so he began all over again. His father taught him the skills and supported him to follow his heart. During the lockdown Mohan dedicated himself to art. “The subject in my paintings is inspired by my father’s paintings and other things which I have seen in our beautiful village which is slowly changing. These changes are coming in my paintings too. Currently, I am consistently, practicing the techniques which are taught to me by my father,” concludes the upcoming artist.
