An art exhibition titled, 'Cass Goesas' by artist Akeru Barros Pereira was inaugurated on March 22 by architect Gerard da Cunha at Carpe Diem Art Gallery, Majorda.
Da Cunha said that he has known Akeru for ten years and recalled how he met her at an exhibition titled 'Houses of Goa' at Kala Academy and went to find out more about it. "I loved her paintings because its subject was close to my heart," he said.
Gerard further said that Akeru has the ability' to capture the Goan houses without any adaptations to it. If the house is broken or has some partition now, she will paint it in its original form without adding such modifications. She keeps the houses of Goa as genuine and original as possible. "Every time she came to Loa, she showed me her paintings thought that they should be put together in a book. It took around five years. The book 'The Indo-Portuguese House' was released in 2013," he says.
'Casas Goesas' literally translates into Goan houses Akeru has exhibited the paintings of the ancient houses of South Goa, especially of Margao and Raia at her exhibition at Carpe Diem Art Gallery.
