An exhibition by the students of art

‘I am…’ a group exhibition of works by the students from the first two batches of Masters of Fine Arts - Goa College of Art will be on display at Carpe Diem Art Gallery, Majorda, which will open on November 26. The eight participating artists are Akash Gaonkar, Akshaydeep Gawade, Ashish Phaldesai, Jodan macia De Souza, Mrinal Sawantodkar, Narayan K Vernekar, Prayuj Velip and Sahil Naik.

Rajesh Chodankar, part of the faculty at the Art College, has had the chance to teach and interact with many batches of BFA students over the years. In order to give them a good platform to begin their personal careers in the real world, Rajesh thought it might be prudent to have a group show with them. Together with Daegal Godinho, owner and director of Carpe Diem Art Gallery in Majorda, a slow and steady curation of the show began months ago.

In order to remain meaningful to the participants, time was primarily spent on identifying and exploring the artists’ passions and what made them put pen or brush to paper.

The exhibition ‘I Am...’ will continue to be accessible to the public until the end of the year during the gallery’s working hours.
