‘I am...’ a group exhibition by the first two batches of MFA students of Goa College of Art, was recently opened at Carpe Diem Art Gallery, Majorda. Sahil Naik, Prayuj Velip, Akasi Gaonkar, Ashish Phaldesai, Narayan Vernekar, Mrìnal Sawantodkar, Akshaydeep Gawade And Jodan Inacio De Souza have all created works on subjects dear to them on the theme of identity, those that describe their family roots, speak of their love for nature and the environment and how their identity is built from their community and the harmony of living beings around them. Their works speak of the consequences of destruction of the environment and human greed.
Curated by Daegal Godinho, founder of Carpe Diem and Rajesh Chodankar, a faculty of Goa College of Art, the exhibition hopes to set these young upcoming artists on the right foot in their careers by being able to engage the Local Goan sentiment through their art, The exhibition will remain open at Carpe Diem Art gallery till the end of December from 10 am to 7pm.
