Film Screening - Bread and Belonging

Bread and Belonging is a 50 minute English documentary on the Goan Pao and its legacy - an object that has been a source of food, identity and collective memory that defines Goa in many ways. The film also contains Konkani and Kannada with English subtitles.

As Goa, India’s smallest state, comes to grip with growing migration and the identity politics around it, three stories unfold around pão, Goa’s unique bread. Stories of people dealing with migration, changing culture and the ever present need to earn a living.

Sonia was born and raised in Goa. She has worked as a producer on documentary films and television programming in Mumbai. She is a multi-medium creator and curator. Sonia divides her time between Mumbai and Goa.
